i am an artist and educator currently based in chicago, il.
my practice centers on drawing. i incorporate other processes such as etching, embroidery, papermaking and spinning, exploring mark making, colour and surface to discover the compelling spell of repetition. presence is integral to my practice: the subjects of my work begin in intentional noticings during long walks, the destinations of which are rarely predetermined. i allow what is curious, beautiful, and strange to pull me down alleys, into shops, across grass, among trees and I then respond to my “noticings" through drawings and collecting objects i find. i follow my eye, then my hand, always with my imagination. The results of my practice tend towards surreal, fantastical stories, transforming everyday gestures, objects, into semi-abstract worlds.
